About Bucerías Centro

Bucerías Centro, el pueblo, is the old town: the plaza Lázaro Cárdenas and the parish of Nuestra Señora del Refugio, the crafts market a block south, the Wednesday farmers' market and the Sunday tianguis, cobblestone streets bounded by Avenida México, Jalisco, Galeana, Madero and Avenida Pacífico, west of Highway 200 and north of the Arroyo del Indio. The beach and malecón are three to five blocks south, a five-to-eight-minute walk. Founded in 1864 as Santa Julia de las Tablas; Bucerías means the divers' town.

The stock is renovated traditional houses and small boutique condo buildings, Makare, Maralma and Alamar among them, at lower density and lower prices than the Zona Dorada next door, with the gated house enclave of Los Árboles on its edge. Pre-construction here is thin; the towers are in the Zona Dorada.

Practical points. Cobblestones and market days mean parking is hard; a garage matters. Water east of the highway can be brackish, so ask about the cistern and filtration. The arroyo is the town's drainage line: check the elevation of anything on its banks. Hospital CMQ's Bucerías centre is a short walk. Foreigners buy through a fideicomiso; the notary checks the parcel's ejido history first.
