Aticama is a village on the San Blas corridor of the northern Nayarit coast, north of the official Riviera Nayarit destinations and well north of the Bay of Banderas, at the edge of Bahía de Matanchén, the seven-kilometre bay that is one of Mexico's widest beaches and home to the former world's-longest surfable wave at Las Islitas, a fishing and surfing hamlet of palapa seafood restaurants that is the gateway by boat to the La Tovara mangroves. Buyers are surfers, retirees and eco-buyers after beach houses and lots far from any resort. Services are thin, San Blas is the nearest town, and parcels need the notary's agrarian check; foreigners hold through a fideicomiso.
