About Chacala
Chacala, the cove, is a separate fishing village fourteen kilometres and twenty-five minutes north of Jaltemba Bay by the Las Varas turn-off, about a hundred kilometres and an hour and a half from the Vallarta airport: some three hundred full-time residents swelling past a thousand at Easter, a mini-marina with a boat ramp, and one of only six certified clean beaches on the Nayarit coast. On the headland between the public cove and Playa Chacalilla, the family's secret beach, sits Marina Chacala, ninety gated acres of jungle with waterfront mansions, a beach club, tennis and trails.
Buyers split in two: village houses for people who want the quiet cove, and the Marina Chacala estates, La Atalaya, Villa Malinali, Villa Paraíso, at the top of the Nayarit market with days on market that run long. Modern hospitals are under two hours away; municipal water varies in pressure and potability, so cisterns and tinacos are standard; the notary confirms title on land that was ejido before the PROCEDE conversions; and foreigners hold through a fideicomiso.
