Pitillal Centro, El Pitillal, el pueblo, is the historic seat of the old delegación around Plaza El Pitillal on Calle Benito Juárez and the stone parish of San Miguel Arcángel on Avenida Emiliano Zapata with its eight-metre carved-wood Christ installed in 1992: about 3,300 people on thirty hectares in the 2020 census, the market, the shops and Walmart on Prisciliano Sánchez all within a walk, south of the Río Pitillal.
Buyers are Mexican families and retirees who want a real town centre at prices well below the coast, and investors in long-term rentals. Sidewalks have gaps between sub-communities, older houses may carry old wiring, septic and low water pressure, and the notary's title search comes first given the delegación's ejido history.
